How It Works: Step by Step
Our recruitment process is designed for speed without compromising on compliance or quality. Whether you need a single labourer for tomorrow or a full project team for a 12-month programme, the process is the same — fast, transparent, and thorough.
1. Brief Us
Tell us what you need — roles, volumes, start dates, site location, and any specific requirements. You can call us on 020 7870 8171, email, or submit a request through our website. Your dedicated account manager will take a detailed brief to ensure we understand exactly what you're looking for.
2. We Match & Vet
We search our database of pre-vetted construction operatives to find the best match for your requirement. Every candidate is assessed against your specific needs including trade qualifications, CSCS certification level, experience type, and site suitability. We verify all compliance documentation before proceeding.
3. Compliance Clearance
Before any operative is deployed to your site, they must pass our 6-point vetting process. This includes Right to Work verification, photo ID check, CSCS card validation, reference checks, skills assessment, and site-specific H&S briefing. We provide full compliance documentation to you before the worker arrives on site.
4. Deployment
Your vetted, compliant operative arrives on site ready to work. We confirm attendance with you and maintain daily contact through your account manager to ensure everything runs smoothly. For multi-day placements, we check in regularly to monitor performance and address any issues proactively.
5. Ongoing Management
We manage all payroll, timesheets, and invoicing. You receive a single consolidated invoice covering all placements. Your account manager provides regular workforce reports and is available to adjust volumes, swap operatives, or scale your team as your project evolves.
Our 6-Point Vetting Process
Every operative supplied by Hard Hat must pass our comprehensive 6-point vetting process before they are cleared for deployment to any client site. This process is non-negotiable and applies to all workers regardless of role, seniority, or placement duration. Our vetting standards are designed to meet or exceed the requirements of Tier 1 and Tier 2 main contractors.
Right to Work Verification
Verified through the Home Office employer checking service. Original documents inspected and copies retained.
Photo ID Check
Government-issued photo ID verified against the individual. Biometric checks where required.
CSCS Card Validation
Card number validated against the CITB Smart Check database. Card type and expiry confirmed.
Employment References
Minimum of two employment references obtained and verified from previous construction employers.
Skills & Experience Assessment
Trade-specific skills assessment to confirm competence level matches the role requirements.
H&S Briefing
Site-specific health and safety briefing covering PPE requirements, emergency procedures, and site rules.
