01Approach

Our Approach to Construction Site Safety

At Hard Hat Recruitment, health and safety is embedded in every aspect of our workforce supply process. From initial candidate registration through to on-site placement, we maintain rigorous safety standards designed to protect workers, contractors, and the public.

We understand that Tier 1 contractors and principal contractors require supply chain partners who take safety seriously — not as a tick-box exercise, but as a fundamental operating principle. Our health and safety management system is designed to meet Constructionline Gold and CHAS standards, ensuring our processes align with industry best practice.

Every operative we supply holds a valid CSCS card verified against the CITB database. We check Right to Work documentation, confirm relevant qualifications and training tickets, and ensure workers understand the safety requirements of their specific role before deployment. Our compliance team maintains detailed records on every worker, providing a full audit trail for our clients.

02Policies

Our Health & Safety Policies

Risk Assessment & Method Statements

We ensure all high-risk activities have appropriate RAMS in place before work commences. Our team reviews client RAMS and briefs operatives on specific hazards and control measures relevant to their placement.

PPE Compliance

Every operative we supply is equipped with appropriate PPE for their role. We verify PPE condition and suitability before placement and support clients in enforcing PPE requirements on site.

CSCS Card Verification

We verify every CSCS card against the CITB database before placement. Cards are checked for validity, correct occupation classification, and expiry date. Expired or invalid cards result in non-placement.

Drug & Alcohol Policy

Hard Hat operates a zero-tolerance policy on drug and alcohol use. We support client testing programmes and will immediately remove any operative who fails a drug or alcohol test from our active workforce.

Incident Reporting

All incidents, near-misses, and dangerous occurrences are reported within 24 hours. We maintain detailed records and work with clients to investigate root causes and implement preventive measures.

CDM 2015 Compliance

We understand our duties under CDM 2015 and ensure all workers we supply are competent, informed, and appropriately supervised for the tasks they are asked to carry out on site.
