01What we supply

Groundworkers for Hertfordshire and the northern M25 corridor

Hertfordshire gives us a good spread of groundworks demand: residential substructure around Stevenage, Hatfield and Hemel Hempstead, commercial and film-studio related works in the Borehamwood and Watford belt, and infrastructure and highways-adjacent work along the M1 and A1(M). Most gangs we place here are expected to move between foundations, drainage and external works in the same week rather than specialise.

The county's road network is the practical advantage. We can pull operatives from north London, Luton and Watford into the same site without an unreasonable commute.

Where Hertfordshire slows a programme is soakaway and attenuation design. Chalk and clay both appear across the county and drainage strategies here often lean on attenuation crates and permeable build-ups rather than a simple connection. Those installations are unforgiving of a careless gang — tell us the drainage strategy up front and we will send operatives who have installed the system before.

02What you get

Every groundworker is checked before they reach your gate

Vetting is done before we put someone forward, not after you have inducted them. The evidence sits in our compliance pack and we will send it for your PQQ.

CSCS card verified

Checked live against the register. Blue Skilled Worker for a skilled groundworker; Green Labourer only where you have briefed us that semi-skilled is acceptable.

NVQ Level 2 Construction Operations

Confirmed for skilled groundworkers, with drainage, kerbing or concrete pathways noted separately.

Right to work

Originals or share code checked in person, with expiry tracking so nobody works past a visa end date.

Confined space and safe digging

Where the job needs it — deep drainage, chambers and manholes — we confirm the ticket, not just the claim.

Two site references

Called directly and asked about reliability in bad weather and whether the operative can be left to run a length of drainage unsupervised.

07Questions from hirers

Hiring groundworkers — frequently asked

Many do — attenuation crates and permeable build-ups are common across the county. Say so when you brief us and we will put forward operatives who have installed that specific system rather than general drainage crews.

Yes. A typical crew is a ganger, three to four skilled groundworkers and a banksman, and we can add a machine driver or dumper driver so the gang is self-sufficient. Where we can, we send crews who have worked together — a groundworks gang that already knows its own rhythm is measurably faster on a drainage run.

Some do, and we treat it as a specific requirement rather than an assumption. Tell us the depths and whether chambers or manholes are involved when you book and we will only put forward operatives whose tickets we have verified for that work.

Talk to us early. We would rather stand a gang down and re-mobilise than have you paying for a day nobody could work, and we will hold the same faces for the restart where the gap is short.

Yes — £10m Employer's Liability, £5m Public Liability and £2m Professional Indemnity, with the full compliance pack available for PQQ and supply chain onboarding.
