Bricklayers for Essex and the east London fringe
Essex is our strongest area for traditional brickwork gangs. The county has a deep pool of trowels who came up through housing and who are used to price work, and a large share of the east London residential jobs we service are actually staffed out of Romford, Grays and Basildon. If you are building in Essex or on the east London fringe, the practical effect is that we can usually field a bigger gang at shorter notice here than anywhere else we cover.
The work itself is mostly volume and mid-rise residential, industrial and logistics shell around Thurrock and the A13, and a steady flow of extension and infill work for smaller builders across Chelmsford and Brentwood. Industrial shell work in particular tends to need brickwork only to a low plinth and blockwork elsewhere, so tell us the split — sending a facing-brick specialist to lay blocks all week is a waste of your money and they will not stay.
Transport is straightforward: the pool drives, and the A12, A13 and M25 junctions put most sites inside a 45-minute run. Where a job sits over the border in east London, many of the same operatives will still take it via the Elizabeth line or the c2c, so a Barking or Stratford requirement can be filled from the Essex pool without a rate uplift.
Every bricklayer is checked before they reach your gate
Vetting is done before we put someone forward, not after you have inducted them. The evidence sits in our compliance pack and we will send it for your PQQ.
CSCS card verified
Card checked against the CSCS Smart Check register, not accepted as a photo. Blue Skilled Worker as the baseline for a trowel.
NVQ Level 2 Trowel Occupations
We confirm the qualification behind the card, and hold a copy for your PQQ pack.
Right to work
Original documents or share code checked in person, with expiry dates tracked so nobody works past a visa end date.
Two site references
Contacted directly — usually the last site manager or gang ganger, asked specifically about output and quality of face work.
Trade test on request
For facing brick or feature work we can arrange a short practical or ask for photographs of recent elevations.
