Bricklayers for London and the inside of the M25
London brickwork splits into two very different jobs. On the residential blocks going up in Barking, Wembley and Woolwich, most of what we supply is blockwork to inner leaf followed by facing brick to a repetitive elevation, and the gangs we send are chosen for consistent daily output. On the conservation and infill work in the central boroughs, the same gang would be the wrong answer — that work needs trowels who have cut and pointed to a planning condition and can match a lime mortar.
Access is the thing that most often costs a London brickwork programme its float. Loading bays are booked by the hour, hoists are shared with the fit-out trades, and a gang that cannot get bricks to the lift stands about. When you brief us, tell us how materials reach the working face — if the answer is a shared hoist with a two-hour window, we will send trowels who have worked that way rather than ones used to a clear forklift run.
We also cover the sequencing that London sites impose: night and weekend closures on the busier boroughs' highways, restricted delivery windows around schools and stations, and Section 61 hours. Our bricklayers are used to Saturday working and to being inducted on a Monday morning under a Tier 1 contractor's process rather than walking straight onto the scaffold.
