01What we supply

Painters & Decorators for live sites, not a database of CVs

Hard Hat supplies painters and decorators to fit-out contractors, main contractors, housebuilders and SME builders across London and the M25. Brush and roller hands, airless spray teams, tapers, and decorators for occupied and high-specification work — placed against the finish standard you are working to.

Decorating is the trade that gets squeezed at the end of every programme, so most of our calls are about catching up: a floor has released late, the client walk-round is in ten days, or a snag list has grown teeth.

One decorator or a team with a working foreman. There is no minimum order, and a two-day snagging booking gets the same vetting and insurance cover as a long-term placement.

02What you get

Every painter and decorator is checked before they reach your gate

Vetting is done before we put someone forward, not after you have inducted them. The evidence sits in our compliance pack and we will send it for your PQQ.

CSCS card verified

Checked live against the register, with Blue Skilled Worker as the baseline for a time-served decorator.

NVQ Level 2 Painting and Decorating

Qualification behind the card confirmed and copied for your compliance pack.

Spray competence confirmed separately

Airless spraying is a distinct skill with its own masking, thinning and ventilation discipline — we verify it rather than assume it.

Right to work

Originals or share code checked in person, expiry dates tracked.

References on finish and snagging

We ask previous sites specifically about snag rates and about conduct in occupied or client-facing areas.

Six answers and we can price it and start searching on the same call.

  2. 02

Paint system specified, including any intumescent or specialist coatings.

  3. 03

Whether the areas are occupied, client-facing, or clean site.

  4. 04

How many coats are already on and what stage of the programme you are at.

  5. 05

Team size, access equipment provided, and whether you need a working foreman.

  6. 06

Start date, hours including weekends, site postcode and induction arrangements.

05Trades that go together

Most sites need more than one trade

We staff the whole package rather than a single line on your requirement, so one call covers the gang.

06Questions from hirers

Hiring painters & decorators — frequently asked

Yes. Spray teams are a separate pool for us because the discipline is different — masking, protection, thinning, ventilation and knowing when spray is the wrong answer. We verify spray competence rather than accepting it as a claim on a CV, and we can supply a team with its own working foreman.

We do, and they need naming at the point of booking. Intumescent systems have thickness and inspection requirements that a general decorator will not be familiar with, and the wrong applicator on that work creates a compliance problem rather than a cosmetic one.

Yes, and we screen for it. Occupied and live-environment decorating requires operatives who protect properly, keep noise and odour under control, and can deal with building users — we note that experience separately on our records.

Brushes, rollers and hand tools are the operative's own. Spray equipment, access towers, materials and protection are provided by you unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.
